This article presents the first and the most basic training/demo to design & build Oracle Worklfows
This specific Audio-Visual Oracle Workflow Training lesson will be the pre-requisite for the next stream of lessons on Oracle Workflows Training. Please note that Oracle Workflow is a copyright product from Oracle Corp. This training session is for educational purposes only. For this Oracle Workflow Training session, lets assume that the requirement is to initiate a workflow, validate it within Oracle Workflow & PL/SQL and then to send a notification. A Purchase Order will be created in table xxxx_po_headers. After inserting a record in this table we will initiate Oracle Workflow. Validation step will set PO_STATUS to VALIDATED. Click here for the pl/sql Source Code used for this training lesson Click here for the wft file created for this Oracle Workflow Training Session Click here for the wft file WFSTD.wft as delivered by Oracle Comments

written by Anil Passi , November 23, 2006
Hi Mckan
Right click on the link/line that joins the two function activities in wf diagram. You will see Results as an option after right click. Simply change the result. If you want a different result set for activity then you should define your own lookup type and lookup codes and assign that lookup type to function activity. Thanks Anil Passi written by Mckan Colaco , November 23, 2006

I know this software sucks, I had my fingers burnt too when replying to questions.
To help this matter:- 1. I have made Email Optional 2. I have removed Preview Functionality Replacing this software will mean loosing all the Q & A in comments thus far, unless I work out how to migrate those comments. That will take time. Hope the user experience is better after the changes I have done today. Thanks Anil written by Anil PAssi , December 06, 2006

Hi Ahmer,
All the errors listed by you pertain to WFSTD. This could be because the access level[as per help menu] at which i saved wft file is higher than that of the components within WFSTD. You can either bring down your access level in WF Builder via Help menu OR You do not save the wft file into database. Instead you should follow step by step instruction to build that wft file yourself. Thanks Anil Passi written by Anil Passi , January 02, 2007

Hi Sri,
Sorry to hear this happened. Although I did warn in FNDLOAD article TO BE CAREFUL when moving around GL Value Sets. This was stated in http://oracle.anilpassi.com/or...les-2.html See note 2 [excerpt below2. Be very careful when downloading flexfields that reference value sets with independent values for GL Segment Codes. By doing so, you will download and extract all the test data in GL Codes that might not be applicable for production. What you need to do is to download conc program excluding the parameter with GL Values. THere are partial download options in FNDLOAD[though i am yet to try those in practice]. In real world, one must never move GL codes from one environment to another using FNDLOAD. Thanks, Anil Passi written by Anil Passi , January 18, 2007

Hi Anil,
I am new to oracle Workflow and your tutorial is a real help. I tried doing the demo given on site. I had overcome initial hiccups and went through most of the comments posted. But unfortunately, my workflow does not send any notifications and Iam unable to monitor it on Status-monitor tab either. Please help. Regards, Mrunalini written by imran , March 19, 2007
Hello Anil.
My question to you is that...where do you invoke the SFM_CALL_PROCESS_ORDER from? (display name: invoke service fulfillment manager, icon: DB_INS.ICO, XDP_SFM_SR_WF.CALL_PROCESS_ORDER). are these standard? i.e already part of the workflow. I do not see this on my Workflow builder with 9i as backend. I have it installed on my system as a standalone(i.e I do not have apps installed on my system). Would it still work..please advice? I am referring to lesson1 Thanks written by Anil Passi , April 02, 2007

There are various ways of troubleshooting Workflows 1. Adding Debug Messages to its pl/sql activities 2. Checking status monitor screen But above all, you should try to learn the core tables used by Workflows Thanks, Anil Passi

Hi,
I find the articles here very much useful. Thanks and Hats off to your effort & help to users on WWW. I am looking for an information with respect to customizations to Standard workflows. Can you please give me details on how to customize the standard workflows. My understanding on the same are as follows: 1. Standard WF objects are created in access level 0 2. Customizations should be done only at level 100 3. Hence, if we try to create some activities at access level 100 and place it in standard process (which will be protected at level 0), it will not allow that to be done. Hence, can you please suggest how to achieve this?? Appreciate & would be really great if you could reply me at the mail id given. Or, would you mind to give me your mail id so that we can discuss on lots of advance & rarely used concepts in oracle workflow which might help both of us to learn more.. Thanks.

Hi Anil,
I know it's very late to come and ask something on this Training Part. But I guess I've no other option too... I've done the steps and all is working fine. My question is we've defined attrbute send_to_email and are assigning email address to it and same is the case for role. Not which part in workflow will actually send the notification to my Role. As we've just defined the role and I'm not getting which api is sending the notification actually. Suppose instead of send_to_email I define attribute send and will assign my email address to it. Now which api will send the notification. I hope I am clear in stating where I'm confused. If not please let me know I will write in more detail. Regards Sachin Ahuja
Hi Anil,
I got it. This we are acheiving thru Setting attribute under Node tab of Notification. Well now I am stuck at one more place I am working on sending notification from workflow and want to access somewhat below kind of information from table Order Item salesrep prodmgr ________________________ 1 1 X P1 1 2 X P2 1 3 Y P1 Now I want to send notification to salesrep and prodmgr seperately based on order number. So below will be some notifications which I'll be sending Notification1 SalesRep X 1 1 X P1 1 2 X P2 Notification2 SalesRep Y 1 3 Y P1 Notification3 P1 1 1 X P1 1 3 Y P1 Notification4 P2 1 2 X P2 I am having prob at Notification1 & Notification3 where I have multiple records to be send in single notification and I am stuck at how I can achive this. Thanks in advance for your kind help. Regards Sachin Ahuja
